Pluto in Aquarius my story
On January 21st Pluto moved into Aquarius after a long, 16 year trek through Capricorn since 2008.
Pluto takes 248 years to circle the Sun once, so it etches its impact into each sign it traverses in a significant way, bringing with it changes in the world and the collective experience.
Pluto is a planet with a reputation for severity, power and discomfort. It speaks about death, transformation and rebirth in that order. It is not fluffy and its lessons are not gentle. It infuses its energy with the themes of the zodiac sign that it journeys through.
The recent Pluto in Capricorn era has brought out, inequalities in the class system, corporations, hierarchies and leadership, themes connected to Capricorn. It has brought with it mass fluctuations and crashes in our financial system and reinvented ways that we both earn and spend money. Structures, a key Capricorn theme have been tested and many of those based on shaky foundations have been dismantled.
We have seen the dark side of leadership and ambition when taken too far.
Pluto’s journey through Aquarius, another sign ruled traditionally by Saturn will test our boundaries and resolution to stick to the path. It will test our mental resilience and ability to sustain focus, remember Aquarius is a fixed air sign! Aquarius is connected to the spirit of humanity, but also to technology and progress that seeks to evolve the way we live. We will meet challenges and opportunities in artificial intelligence and there will be mass adaptation as well as revolutionary resistance to new technologies.
Cyber security and fraud are key areas of concern that will need to be managed both personally and as a society. Aquarius seeks to liberate through reason and logic, it is likely that we will see the formation of new societal groups and various examples of individuals and smaller groups who split off from a mainstream way of life. There will be remarkable new frontiers in science as well as oppressive attempts to use science to control and manipulate the populace.
Some people mistakenly believe that everyone, will feel this transit personally from the moment Pluto steps into Aquarius in late January. While it’s true that the impact of Pluto in Aquarius will bring mass change that impacts our collective culture and lifestyles, between now and 2043, it will develop incrementally and broadly across the board.
People who have personal planets or their Ascendant (or angles; Descendant, MC or IC) in Aquarius, you will feel the power and be challenged personally. Pluto will not get up in everyone’s grill this time around, but for some people, me included the personal impact is likely to be significant.
This is because Pluto’s arrival into Aquarius hits my Ascendant degree and concurrently squares my natal Moon and Pluto conjunction in Scorpio. Evolve or die, change and reinvent yourself or life will be impossible. That is the vibe and it is because the Ascendant speaks to identity, so when Pluto explodes on the shores of my Ascendant, the impetus to make necessary changes to it feels like an urgent requirement.
Pluto’s square to my natal Moon/Pluto conjunction (in my 10th house) adds a powerful need to make necessary life changes to live in alignment with my life purpose, or else. In my chart, the Moon rules my 6th house of illness and poverty and its connection with Pluto natally describes the nature of trauma and wounding I experiencd earlier in life, a challenging fate.
But as I was reminded recently in my Classical Advanced Acupuncture Mentorship program, fate may dictate the terms of our life to some degree. But it is destiny, that results from our choices and actions and determines the way our lives turn out. As we continue to heal ourselves and make wiser choices in alignment with our purpose, it is clear that we become the conscious conductors of our destiny.
So I see this Pluto transit as an opportunity to radically grow, heal and transform and I am grateful for the inspiration and fire to do so that Pluto has gifted me.
You can check your natal chart to see if it is getting a jolt by Pluto, see if you have any planets or angles in the early degrees 0-5 degrees of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio. If you find that this Pluto transit triggers your natal chart, then I encourage you to step up and lean into the lessons. It won’t necessarily be easy, and you will be asked to face what has been disowned or repressed. But the freedom and illumination you and your life will get, by dredging out blockages from your system is enough to offer you the opportunity to feel renewed and empowered!
